| the coast of Northern California composed of 7 counties. The National High School Rodeo Association (N.H.S.R.A.) governs the state of California's nine districts. N.H.S.R.A. was created to give high school students the opportunity to participate and compete in this unique and challenging sport. This sport is not recognized by all high school athletics, but offers a program that sets high school rodeo apart from other varsity sports: These athletes compete on a scale comparable to collegiate and professional rodeo competitors. These high school athletes have the opportunity to acquire scholarships and grants for continuing their educational careers. The top four contestants in each event qualify for the National High School Finals Rodeo (N.H.S.F.R.) held annually in July. Over 1,500 contestants from each of the 46 state/province associations compete for national titles, awards and scholarships. Membership is open to any enrolled high school student in good standing interested in the sport of rodeo. To become eligible for California High School Rodeo Association(CHSRA), District 2, you must maintain a 2.0 GPA, must be in good standing with your school and shall comply with all the rules and by-laws. District 2 follows the NHSRA Rule Book. Events offered: Girls: Breakaway Roping, Barrel Racing, Queen Contest, Team Roping,Cutting, Goat Tying, Pole Bending, Boys: Bareback Riding, Steer Wrestling, Saddle Bronc Riding, Calf Roping, Cutting, Team Roping and Bull Riding. HOW DO I BECOME A CHSRA DISTRICT 2 MEMBER? You cannot rodeo until you become a CHSRA/NHSRA member. Please download CHSRA/NHSRA Forms, you can find these forms on the Forms/Secretary page of this web site. They must be returned 3 WEEKS prior to competing in your first rodeo.
